Dampcoursing

Rising Damp

Rising damp is usually found in older buildings dating back to a time when damp coursing services were not available. It is also a problem in buildings which were originally used for something other than a home, for example a business or barn conversion. It is caused when moisture is allowed to rise by capillary action due to the absence of an injected damp course. This usually leads to the discolouration of decoration, wall paper peeling, paint blistering and other symptoms associated with rising damp, and in severe cases are recognized by visible soluble salt residue. If left the end result is fungal growth and dry rot within the timber, which could lead to structural issues.

Following professional diagnosis by our qualified staff, the recommended treatment is generally an injected damp course.
